Frankenstein

I am reading Frankenstein by Merry Shelley in English. (Technically i was supposed to read it two weeks ago, he he, better late than never.) It is turning out to be a very interesting story. I like the creature a lot and I can't understand why Victor refuses to love him. The creature is so kind and loving but no one cares enough to look past the surface. It is a very sad reality.
We were reading some poems as well and I thought that I would post my favorite one. :)
Ah, Are You Digging On My Grave?
by Thomas Hardy

"Ah, are you digging on my grave,
My loved one? -- planting rue?"
-- "No: yesterday he went to wed
One of the brightest wealth has bred.
'It cannot hurt her now,' he said,
'That I should not be true.'"

"Then who is digging on my grave,
My nearest dearest kin?"
-- "Ah, no: they sit and think, 'What use!
What good will planting flowers produce?
No tendance of her mound can loose
Her spirit from Death's gin.'"

"But someone digs upon my grave?
My enemy? -- prodding sly?"
-- "Nay: when she heard you had passed the Gate
That shuts on all flesh soon or late,
She thought you no more worth her hate,
And cares not where you lie.

"Then, who is digging on my grave?
Say -- since I have not guessed!"
-- "O it is I, my mistress dear,
Your little dog , who still lives near,
And much I hope my movements here
Have not disturbed your rest?"

"Ah yes! You dig upon my grave...
Why flashed it not to me
That one true heart was left behind!
What feeling do we ever find
To equal among human kind
A dog's fidelity!"

"Mistress, I dug upon your grave
To bury a bone, in case
I should be hungry near this spot
When passing on my daily trot.
I am sorry, but I quite forgot
It was your resting place."
I hope you liked it. It has have very light feeling for such a sad subject. I don't like the idea of being completely forgotten like that. Thomas Harding also wrote one that I think is called "The man I Killed." It also has a light feeling and a subject that makes you stop and think. Look it up if you have time.
Well, I better start working on school stuff. Calculus is calling. Have a good week!

Brids!!!

Gah!!! We put up new hummingbird feeders on the porches and instead of seeing those pretty little birds that beat their wings so fast, we see this stupid big bird who is stealing all that red water. I do not think it is fair that he is not sharing with real hummingbirds....where is my bb gun?...Gah!!!

Summer...sigh...

In my opinion it is not coming fast enough. I have 28 days left of school, blah. Once school gets out, me and mom are planning on going to the caverns! I want to sign up for one of those extra tours where you have to use knee pads and helmets with lamps on them. You get to crawl through crazy tight squeezes and stuff. Sounds very fun! Other than planning for summer I am just trying to hold on to reassurances that time will keep on passing at an even pace and school will end in a month. I think time is lying to me and it will go into and infinite loop soon.

Everyone else here is doing OK. Gally is healing very nicely and quicker than expected and mom is waiting for summer just like me. Unfortunately, there is an awful sick going around. It starts with a sore throat, then crazy stuffiness, then you just feel like hell. I have been battling it with bottles of vitamin C every day, and that seems to help a lot. I am only slightly stuffy. Mom said she had a sore throat yesterday and Gally has one right now.

Well, I have to start getting ready for school. I think it should start at noon. :) that would be so nice....oh well.

New Plan

OK! I have made a new plan for future activities such as universities and jobs! I did a search for the top hotels and resorts in Hawaii (those are some expensive places!) and went to a few of their employment websites. A couple of them mentioned University of Denver and talked about the programs they have for the graduates there. My goal is to get accepted there, do an internship in Hawaii, travel abroad for a semester, and then major in Resort and Hotel Management. After that, I want to move to Hawaii and become a hotel/resort manager in one of the top rated places!
There is only a few things that don't happen in this plan that I want to happen. I wont get to fly a fighter jet, and I wont get to travel as much as I really want to. The traveling thing bugs me the most. There are so many things to see in this world and I hope that someday the opportunity to see some majority of them will come.
On to more present issues. Mom and Sister are in poor shape. A week or so ago, mom broke her toe. I'm not sure what she was doing, but somehow she slammed it into a door. The toe is all wrapped up now and the doctor said it should be better in three to four weeks. That is about half the time that my sister has been given to heal. She was outside on her skateboard when she fell and broke her arm. Technically, I'm not sure if it is a break; the doctor said that it is a crack in her elbow. Either way, she can't move it and it is going to be in a big clunky cast for awhile.
I have nothing else to report. :) I hope everyone has had a nice week.

Long time no see...

Hello. I know it has been forever since i have last wrote something but I'm back. Things are feeling very strange at the moment. I am waiting for so many things to happen but it feels like life is currently uneventful...
I am excited about the things that are going to occur later this year. First and foremost, School is going to be out in 50 days, 11 hours, and 8 minutes! I made an online time counter thingy. When school is over I will be visiting my aunt and uncle for the summer, in one of my favorite towns on earth. In June my cousin (their daughter) will be getting married there as well. Very exciting!!! I haven't met her future husband but I've heard that he is very nice. I can't wait to see him and the rest of my family that I haven't seen in ages. After summer I will be going back to school as a senior! I am happy and worried about this fact because next semester I will also be taking a class at the university. I still need to get in the application and take a placement exam. Scary, scary, scary. I already took the ACT and got a 26! I have been assured that, that is a good score but a certain angry math teacher is insisting that I take it two more times...the crazy. After school starts again, I have three big things to look forward to for the rest of the year. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer will be released on August 2nd. It is the fourth book in the Twilight saga. The story is about a young girl and a vampire who fall in love. Twilight (the first book) will come out in the movie theaters on December 12th. And lastly, I will be turning a most happy age on my birthday in December!!! All this excitement is building up and I have nothing to put it in. I hope summer gets here soon.

Christmas Time!!!

Well Christmas time is over and done with. It was an extremely nice one this year. I think that my mom was worried about the large decrease in presents under the tree this year but to me it made no difference. I loved it all the same. We decided to do an untraditional Christmas dinner this year. :) That is what my mom should have been worries about! It was an... experience. The potatoes and the rolls were good, but that's about all that I could agree with.
The menu consisted of breaded shrimp, steak, salad, potato boats, and store bought rolls. Mom was in a hurry so she tried to fry too many of the shrimp at once and they became a big gooey half fried clump. It didn't look to appetizing so i didn't chance it. After the steaks were marinated we discovered we did not have a broiler pan and had to make one using a normal cookie sheet and a biscuit rack thing. After eating we decided that the steaks were not good to begin with and mothers cooking was not at fault. The actual salad was yummy but we were out of salad dressing. The potatoes and the rolls were excellent!
A very memorable Christmas. Deb is leaving today and we are on our own for new years eve. That's usually what happens and we always have fun with it. Well, today is a big shopping day and I plan to use it to the best of my ability. I better get ready. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
